K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Telangana’s chief minister, is planning to join national politics with an announcement expected on the auspicious occasion of ‘Vijayadashami’ this year.
Sources from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) said that the details of the plan are currently being worked out, and TRS could be renamed. However, they further said that the rebranded outfit might not be declared a national party immediately.
The sources further said that the party would put the spotlight on the welfare schemes currently being implemented in Telangana like “Rythu Bandhu”, an investment support scheme started for farmers, and “Dalit Bandhu” which grants ₹10 lakh to every Dalit household to start any business or trade. They would question why such schemes are not being brought into force in the country.
The newly formed party would also raise questions related to the electricity supply deficit in the country and why all the villages in the country have not been electrified even after 75 years of independence. They would also seek answers on why welfare measures for the poor populace are being termed as “freebies”.
The chief minister had made some reference to the establishment of the proposed national party for the first time on September 12 while speaking in the Legislative Assembly.
Last month, the TRS district unit presidents had called upon Rao to enter national politics. Rao had spoken about Telangana playing a crucial role in national politics for the wider interest of the country.
