Role of Youth in Shaping India’s Future

Role of Youth in Shaping India's Future

Today, India has the largest number of youth. India has made considerable progress compared to other countries. But, when we talk about today’s Indian politics. The country desperately needs young leaders who are enthusiastic, energetic, morally sound, and diligent. There is no hesitation that the country has progressed dramatically since independence, but let’s make sure development would have proceeded much more agile if we had some young guide to lead the way.

We assume that there may be two reasons for these deplorable circumstances of Indian politics. Let’s see what those are.

Reasons why Indian politics are in a disastrous situation

Listed two points are the factors that youth are not participating in today’s politics:

  1. Today’s young generation is not interested in actively participating in politics. Youths are content with what they are doing. But this factor seems to hold no ground because of the discontent shown by the country’s youth towards the establishment during the various protest. The modern youth of India are aware of the problems that our country is facing. If given a chance, they would be ready to change the country’s political situation.
  2. The second factor may be that youngsters are not given that many opportunities to prove themselves with the justification that they are not experienced enough to participate actively in the country’s governance. In today’s political scenario, older leaders seem to monopolize significant parties. This issue leaves little room for young people to take control and get involved in the political process. Older people must realize that they must step aside and make way for younger generations.

India is a rapidly developing country with a large population of young people. More than 62 percent of Indians are in the working age group (15-59 years), and more than 54 percent are below 25 years of age. This makes India one of the youngest nations in the world.

Today, India has the most significant number of youth in the world. But, if they choose to serve the nation substantially, they must understand the machinery of our democracy and share their strong shoulders.

Today most people flaunt the idea that students should exclusively focus on their studies and not get distracted by any political activities. But everyone wants to ask why education must be defined as limited just to the books inside the classroom.

Democratic exercises such as organizing rallies, participating in student government, discussions, and debates should not be categorized as activities that are dissimilar from traditional book-to-brain education.
