The BJP held a lengthy discussion regarding the strategies they will employ in their campaign in Telangana. Top party leaders came together to decide their plans for the state as speculation mounts that Telangana may go to the polls earlier than expected. They are determined to make the most of the opportunity and launch a fierce campaign in the state.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the BJP leaders discussed ways to bring prominent personalities to the party to bolster its presence in the state ahead of the election. Sources suggest that the national leadership is concerned that despite their best efforts, there have been no major additions to the state unit.
At a BJP president J P Nadda’s home gathering, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Telangana party leader Bandi Sanjay deliberated on the campaign plans and other party tactics.
BJP’s core group members attended the meeting, including General Secretary (Organisation) B L Santhosh, General Secretaries in-charge of state Sunil Bansal and Tarun Chugh, National Vice-President D K Aruna and Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharampuri.
BJP leader Bandi Sanjay is set to launch another phase of his Praja Sangrama Yatra to highlight the “anti-people policies” of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government in Telangana. Bansal was in Telangana for almost a week to organise 11,000 street corner meetings or ‘Nukkad Sabhas’ with the same purpose.
Ministers involved with the Telangana unit have been asked to be accessible for all the party events in the upcoming days in the state.
After the meeting, in a statement, Sanjay said that he and other party leaders from the state guided the national leadership on the “successful completion” of 11,000 street corner meetings under the agenda “Praja Gosa, BJP Bharosa” (people angry, trust in BJP). “The party high command was immensely pleased with the outcome and directed the state leadership to undertake further steps to strengthen the organisation. They have advised us to intensify the struggle against the KCR-led government, which is mired in corruption,” he said.
The Tuesday meeting of the BRS comes after the CBI arrested Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the alleged liquor scam case in which the BJP has claimed that BRS leader K Kavitha is also involved. Kavitha has denied the allegations.
However, when the media questioned Sanjay about this, he said that BJP has no role in charges regularised against AAP leaders and Kavitha in the situation of affirmed corruption in framing excise policy, now withdrawn.
