Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has declared the start of the political downfall of the Congress Party, citing their defeat in the recent elections held in the northeastern States. Rahul Gandhi, the former Member of Parliament, was singled out as the leader responsible for dismal performance of the party.
At a ceremony on Sunday, he inaugurated 220 projects worth Rs 4,283 crore and laid the foundation stone for several projects in Gabbur village of Deodurg taluk in Raichur district. He addressed the gathering after completing these activities.
“The Congress was involved in corruption when it was in power as it treated Karnataka as an Automated Teller Machine (ATM). Therefore, development works had taken the back seat. Was there any possibility of development of the State under the Congress rule?” he questioned.
He also expressed his disapproval of the Congress-Janata Dal(S) coalition government, asserting that there had been no progress in the State while it was in power. He said “People of the State should give full majority to the BJP to form the government and help implement development works for their welfare”.
The Union Home Minister noted the Modi government’s immense contribution to the district in terms of implementing new projects. These include a new airport, the Indian Institute of Information Technology, a railway line between Ginigera-Raichur and a 325 km express highway between Belagavi and Raichur. He listed these projects as examples of the government’s commitment.
“The former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa changed the name of Hyderabad Karnataka as Kalyana Karnataka and announced ₹5,000 crore for the Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board (KKRDB) for the development of the region,” he said.
Mr. Shah commended the Chief Minister for promoting social justice by granting reservation to all communities. He highlighted that the Scheduled Caste(left) have been granted 6%, SC(right) 5.5%, SC (Touchable) 4.5%, SC(others) 1%, and 2% each to Lingayats and Vokkaligas, with Muslim being shifted to EWS quota.
Bhagwanth Khuba, Union Minister, Raja Amareshar Naik, MP, Shivanagouda Naik, MLA, Shivaraj Patil and several others attended the event.
